An Interactive Reading of Psalm 23 (of David)

Who is the Lord?
The Lord is my shepherd.
And what difference does that make?
I lack nothing.
What does that look like?
He makes me lie down in green pastures.
Peaceful rest sounds good. Is that it?
He leads me beside quiet waters.
And how does that affect you?
He refreshes my soul.
But what happens when you have to get moving?
He guides me along the right paths.
Why does he do that?
For his name’s sake.

What does he empower you to do?
Even though I walk through the darkest valley ...
Where do you get the courage?
I will fear no evil,
    for you are with me;
your rod and your staff,
    they comfort me.

He seems to care about you. What else does he do?
You prepare a table before me
    in the presence of my enemies.

I'm not sure I would want that. Does that work out okay?
You anoint my head with oil;
    my cup overflows.

What do you expect from the Lord after all this?
Surely your goodness and love will follow me
    all the days of my life,

And after that?
and I will dwell in the house of the Lord
    forever.
