Coming and Going
Jesus replied, “Let us go somewhere else—to the nearby villages—so I can preach there also. That is why I have come.” So he traveled throughout Galilee, preaching in their synagogues and driving out demons.
- Mark 1:38-39
Jesus didn’t come to draw crowds … though he did.
He didn’t come to earn fame … though he did.
He didn’t come to receive gratitude … though he did.
He came to drive back the darkness.
He came to set the captives free.
He came to rescue you.
He came to liberate me.
He came to battle the monsters
Who hide in the corners of night.
He came to trump the weak powers
Who shrink in the presence of light.
“Let us go,” he says.
So, let’s go.
Let us go where he brings us.
Let us go where he sends us.
Let us go to the corners of the globe.
Let us go to the hurt and downtrodden.
Let us go to neighbors far and near.
Let us go with courage instead of fear.
Let us go with Jesus.
Don’t miss his purpose.
Don’t miss his invitation.
He’s including you.
He’s making all things new.
Until the day arrives
When everything’s better.
