Reflecting Reading of Acts 4

32 All the believers were one in heart and mind. No one claimed that any of their possessions was their own, but they shared everything they had. 33 With great power the apostles continued to testify to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus. And God’s grace was so powerfully at work in them all 34 that there were no needy persons among them. For from time to time those who owned land or houses sold them, brought the money from the sales 35 and put it at the apostles’ feet, and it was distributed to anyone who had need.
- Acts 4:32-35

This week’s passage shows the Domino Effect in action. The resurrection of Jesus Christ is starting to transform the world. And this transformation rolls out as a new community is created.

Take a moment to read through the passage slowly three times. If you’re in a place where you can read it aloud, give that a try.

As you read, allow the Lord to direct your attention to a word or phrase that describes this new community. After you finish reading, reflect on the following questions:

  • What’s significant about the word or phrase that caught your attention?
  • In what ways does the community you see in the passage look like your experience of communities in your own life? What’s the same? What’s different?
  • How does Jesus’ resurrection impact this community?
