The New is Here

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!
- 2 Corinthians 5:17

The new is here! The new is here! At long last, at long last, the new is here! Can you see it? Can you hear it?

Everything old has passed away, but it doesn’t always feel that way. Our old habits die hard. Our old knees and backs still remind us that we’re not as young as we used to be (nobody ever is). We may still feel old, but something decisive has happened.

Our past is still with us, but it doesn’t define us. We are more than who we used to be. Christ has made us new.

Our habits and rhythms and ways of life continue to cause us to stumble, but we can do more than before. Christ has made us new.

Our mirrors may taunt us. Our dreams may haunt us. But we shine bright in the darkest of nights for the whole wide world to see. Christ has made us new.

Christ has made us new. He’s new. Once dead. Now alive. He’s new through and through. The same old Jesus but completely and totally new. And his newness transforms us. Christ has made us new.

You need to celebrate this. Sing it. Shout it. Write it on your walls. Christ has made us new.

We want to challenge you today to engage creatively with this idea. When we said “Sing it” we meant it. Write a song. Draw or paint a picture. Create a poem. Engage creatively with this beautiful truth: in Christ you are a new creation.
